Updates …

27 Jun

Hi, everyone

The good news is that I’m now 31 chapters into The Family Pride. I’m hoping to have it drafted by next week, which will allow me to get it edited and hopefully published by the end of July. The next project is Mirror Image (SIM 18).

I’m also drafting out ideas for the next The Empire’s Corps book. Would you prefer to see The Shavetail (Ed Stalker’s rise to Lt), The Few (a tiny bunch of marines on an occupied world, which may also be fitted into the Ark Royal universe), or the continuation of the post-collapse empire, following the marines who remained near the Core when the Empire fell into chaos?

I’m also looking at crafting out the final Ark Royal trilogy. For various reasons, I’m considering going with a major integrated storyline instead of three connected stories – would you like to see this? Or three separate tales? Let me know …

The Schooled in Magic paperbacks are on their way. We’ve had problems, however, when it comes to fitting Alassa’s Tale into The Princess in the Tower – it’s not going to be easy to produce an economical paperback. I’m currently planning a second novella, set in the era before Emily, that should make a small (but more reasonable) paperback when matched with Alassa’s Tale.

And yes, Cursed is on its way in Audible.

And we’re on our way to Malaysia for a while. Luckily, I can work there <grin>.

Chris

Chris I personally will read anything that you write. I know that you want to please up but you have to please yourself.
As I see it though is the Empire Corp is more about after the fall and Ark Royal is before the Empire and yes there needs to be how the empire comes about. That will give you so much to write about in the middle 5000 years.
You keep writing and I know we your fans will keep reading !

I’m with my previous colleague. Both Empire Corps books preferred but then I read just about anything you produce

I would love to see more of the post collapse core worlds, but honestly I’d read anything TEC!

Hi, Chris. Great to hear an update from you. While I’m certainly missing Stalker and the Camelot crew, I’ve always been curious what happened to the Marine Corps back towards the Core, so I’m inclined to that storyline. As for Ark Royal, I’d like to get my teeth into a longer story, even though it entails a longer wait!
More importantly, take care of yourself and enjoy your time in Malaysia 😀.
God bless you and your family.

YEEES!!!The continuation of the post-collapse empire, following the marines who remained near the Core when the Empire fell into chaos.

BTW, I was surprised when I listened to the audio version of Work Experience that the ‘bug’ was still in there where Emily turned into a bird WITH her staff even though that shouldn’t have been possible, correct?

    Hi Chris,

I’m a massive fan of the Ark Royal storyline and the idea of a major integral storyline sounds intriguing for my vote.

As to Empire Corps, which i also very much enjoy, I’d love to know more about the post-collapse marines, maybe even follow in the story of the last Emperor ?

Love to have the Ark Royal continue with one big story

  8. Les Barrie June 27, 2019 at 8:48 pm #

    Post collapse empire please

  9. Mike Strong June 28, 2019 at 1:59 am #

Definitely post collapse please. I’d like to see what happened to General Damiani, Specialist Lawson and Roland. Also since the slaughterhouse was bombed, what happened to the marines that were stationed there.

My vote would be a story on what Prince Roland is doing post fall.

Glad to hear things seem okay. While I would say SIM or more Zero. However that was not the question. I would say go w/ the Marines.

    Enjoy your trip.

Can’t wait until Mirror Image–but please have the story focus more on sorcery and less on technology. I read the series for the swords and sorcery, not scifi (that’s in your other series…) Also, the faster the nameless world develops guns and science, the less important magic becomes…(i.e. who cares about nexus points if the nameless world masters nuclear fusion and gains cheap, unlimited energy–everywhere??)

that will probably be a verrrry looooong tiiiiiiiiime.

I’d REALLY like to read what happened to the Childe Rolland and his lady Marine after the fall of Earth …

Hey Chris, I utterly enjoyed Cursed and its resolution to the cliffhanger that The Broken Throne had left. Very well done 🙂 As for the Empire Corps… I was really hoping for maybe a story arc involving the Marines who were left near the core. Possibly following an attempt to form something like a coalition of worlds in the core and an attempt to reconstruct Earth.

I was under the impression that Arc Royal universe and TEC were to separate universes as it’s stated in TEC that there was never any sentient alien life discovered but in Arc Royal there is an ever expanding number of alien civilisations being discovered. Is it possible that the virus destroys all sentient life except humans and history was rewritten in the intervening thousands of years? The FTL tech is also radically different too.

I agree with many of the others, I would love to read more about how the Marines in the core worlds made out. There were hints that there was SOMETHING in place.

I will read anything you write so I am happy with any of the options. Though I must say I am particularly looking forward to Mirror Image. BTW Any news on the two Angel in the Whirlwind books?
    Thanks

So what did you have in mind for the short Schooled in Magic story?

  18. David Graf June 29, 2019 at 10:50 pm #

Definitely would prefer a novel about the post-collapse marines in the core worlds and also an integrated Ark Royal storyline.

  19. Nathan June 30, 2019 at 1:07 am #

Core Marines and Roland for sure.

  20. voteviewblog June 30, 2019 at 3:16 am #

Christopher I hope you are doing better physically. I would really enjoy reading the last 3 books in the Ark Royal series. I want to know how humanity defeats the virus. Thanks. Keith Poole

  21. James June 30, 2019 at 10:55 am #

Chris, would prefer three individual books as you have done in the preceding trilogies

  22. Ken June 30, 2019 at 2:11 pm #

Ark Royal: prefer major integrated. Want it to tie up loose ends, show how things come together/end.
The Corps: want to see what’s going on with the Core Marines. At what point do you expect that the Core Marines and the ones on the fringe will link up?

Presumably you are in remission or, at the very least off chemo for a while…
I certainly wish you prompt recovery and a return to your former energy levels allowing you to enjoy all the good things in your life. Wherever that may be!
Empire’s Corps: The tribulations of the scattered few (Core bound), attempting to both maintain some semblance of order whilst trying desperately to reconnect with their brethren.
Ark Royal: There is precious little difference in the final analysis between a trilogy or an integrated storyline. It will wrap things up! Frankly, you might want to see where your scribbling leads you and leave it at that, I trust your instincts!
As always be well and stay safe!

Hope you are doing well Chris. The Marines near the core works for me, ( where is the Emperor and his Marine bodyguard?) but I will read anything.

  25. George H Garver July 2, 2019 at 8:49 pm #

    ARK ROYAL is my favorite

  26. tern July 4, 2019 at 9:31 am #

Would really like to see the Marines coreward post-collapse, ideally with Emperor Roland. So much potential.

    • Paul (Drak Bibliophile) Howard July 4, 2019 at 12:48 pm #

There is no Emperor Roland. 😉

There is a young would-be Marine who once had the title Crown Prince but neither he or the surviving Marines (according to Chris) want him to be Emperor.

Seriously, thanks in part to the “hatch-job” the Grand Senate did, nobody wants an Emperor Roland.

  27. Xavier July 20, 2019 at 4:48 am #

For the Empires Corps definitely would like to learn more about other marines! The core worlds, learning about the price etc would be awesome. TEC is honestly one of my favorite series and I do hope you write more of it
