Wedding Hells is wonderful–thank you for writing the series! Could I ask two questions?? When Emily casts the forbidden healing spell near the end of the book and becomes dizzy is the spell healing her headaches as well?? And when she is fighting off the wards at the end and you say her magic is growing stronger, is her magic expanding again??

No, it isn’t. Trying to heal yourself isn’t recommended.
Her magic already expanded during the duel. What happened when she was pushing against the wards was that she flexed it to its full potential .

Loved the book 😀 I can’t be certain, but am I right in thinking King Randor actually WASN’T asking Emily to nuke the city? He seemed slightly surprised when Emily said she wouldn’t kill millions of people, and when she was reeling from what she thought was being asked, she cut him off off when he tried to clarify.
At a guess, it seemed as if Randor was asking her to come to terms with them, and talk them down. Must have been quite a shock when Emily replied implying she was fully capable of genocide.
Chris has said that Randor didn’t know about the “nuke spell” and Emily “jumped” to the wrong conclusion.
However, Randor had already rejected the idea of concessions to the Rebels and does know that Emily is a powerful sorceress.
He’s still thinking in terms of force against the rebels and sees Emily’s powers as a tool to use against them.
If there’s surprise on Randor’s part, it was IMO more “I didn’t think she was that powerful” rather than “I only wanted her to talk to them”.
Oh right, thanks for the clarification.
Yep. Randor had no idea just what she could do, while Emily believed that killing the ringleaders wouldn’t be enough to stop the uprising.

my theory may be bizarre, but is it possible that both nannettes master, the leader of the white council and the person who killed the leader of mountaintop be void? seems like a possible scenario as it is already shown with lady barb how far he can go to do what he seems best. he also seems like someone who would be able to plan things so far ahead of time.

Cloak (in the Mountaintop book) wasn’t the head of the White Council.
However, some have suspect that Cloak was Void thanks to the ending of the Mountaintop book.
I definitely believe that Nannette’s Master is Cloak as Cloak was in the right place to rescue her.
I’m just not sure that Cloak and Void are the same person.
Yeah, it does seem like Void being Cloak is a little too obvious..
Unless that’s exactly what Chris wants us to think 😛

Cloak asking Aurelius if he wasn’t forgetting about someone important (Void) during the meeting about abducting Emily seems like exactly the kind of humor/snark that Void seems to enjoy.
And that final conversation between Cloak and Aurelius was interesting. Just who did Aurelius recognize when Cloak “unveiled”? [Evil Grin]

OMG this book was amazing! I can’t even complain bout the mild cliffhanger cause was done well and the books come out so fast. Such a great author. I probably would never have read your if the first book I got hadn’t been free and now I own all them. Love how all the characters seem like real people and don’t act like lovesick morons. I really want to know how you manage to write quality books with such speed you are definitely the fastest author I have ever read and not one book has felt like a filler.

Does anyone have any guesses whether the new grandmaster welcomes her back to Whitehall?? Disqualifies her for irregularities in completing her project?? Or tries to control her??
Chris has been asking for names for female Whitehall students so IMO Emily will have another year at Whitehall.

These have all been great books; is there a chance there will ever be an audible version? My wife has been looking for a new book series to listen to in the car, or on walks, and I know she would like these.

Love the book. While I did not like the fact that King Randor got “more” amoral in this book. I love how the Emily struggles to find a solution where not exist and how this challenges her thinking. Damned if you do, damned if you dont, applies really well to this book.
I do not agree with Void that giving up on being Baroness is the right think to do. Because I think Emily being the Baroness gives her a stake in transforming the world in a realistic manner. And us a great view point in the upheaval changes bring.
Now that she is no longer Baroness, she and thus we have less stake in the political upheaval. But at same time, out with the old, and Enter the new 🙂 cannot wait for what comes next. Just hope it does not become a “war” book. I kind of like how Schooled in Magic is different from the other books from Chris :).
I don’t think Randor got more immoral, I just think Emily was more aware of it .

Chris, is it possible in the unnamed world to attain great skill and power and have a spouse and kids?? I say this because all the truly powerful sorcerers in the series–the original magemaster, the Grandmaster, and Void all have tremendous power and purpose but seem to have paid a high price–no spouse or kids. This has implications for Emily–can she become a great power–either like the late Grandmaster at Whitehall or a Lone Power like Void–and still have a rich family life?? Even if peace comes in Zangaria, can she be a great sorceror and return as Baroness? Are their any great powers who have families??
It’s certainly possible – there are married staff at Whitehall.
(No one bats an eyelid at the thought of Void having a daughter either ))
