This is just a really quick update <grin>.
I’ve finished the first draft of The Zero Secret and it is currently on its way to the editor. I don’t know how long it will take to incorporate everything, but hopefully it won’t take too long. The cover has been completed and you can see it by clicking this link.
Both Drake’s Drum and Void’s Tale are also waiting on their final edits, which will hopefully be completed shortly. The former needed a considerable amount of smoothing out – horror of horrors – and then real life got in the way. On the plus side, both Cast Adrift and The Face of the Enemy have done very well and I hope to start work on Child of Destiny shortly.
I’m not sure when yet. For various reasons, this week needs to be kept relatively free of large-scale projects. I don’t know precisely how things are going to go – I thought I’d be somewhere else today – but I do have a list of small-scale things that need doing and possibly a few more Stuck in Magic chapters.
That said, we are hopeful that Fantastic Schools III (including a Schooled in Magic novella) will be out shortly, followed rapidly by Fantastic Middle Schools (including a pair of short The Zero Enigma stories). And, as always, if you want to submit a story for the next collection, check out the details here.

2nd for more schooled in magic. It would also be nice to see stuck in magic to continue in novel form to help fill any sim voids
The Cast Adrift Universe really shows promise so I would like to see more of that. Perhaps a little more on where Emily goes next after the current story arc is completed
For me, I am waiting for the Ark viral conclusion. I am in the middle of Cast Adrift and enjoying it so far. I just hope you’re keeping track of all the open loops you’ve started 😉

Hi I really like SIM and would like to see where is goes depending on the final currently planned book. I really enjoyed Kat Falcone so a return there would be great. I do not really het on with Ark or Corps but have read quite a lot of them. There are a few places I would like to go back to but I do enjoy Zero as well. Maybe something new?
I’m excited about Void’s Tale. I still believe that empires can be a positive force—and Emperor’s can be good–think Marcus Aurelious–or at least, no worse than Kings. The idea that empires ultimately fail is also true for all kingdoms and countries. In my opinion, Emily is becoming too simplistic and self-righteous…real life isn’t so black and white.

It is a toss up between Cast Adrift and Zero Enigma
Schooled in Magic Trilogy at Heart’s Eye – 1 magic, 1 non-magic, 1 Emily (although Emily might have to make cameos in the first two listed. Emily has also offered two apprenticeships?
The empire Corps and Cast Adrift plus Ark Royal books always appreciated.
I haven’t read SIM, I don’t think it’s a series I would enjoy though.
Were you still planning on doing the SIM Zero crossover you talked about a couple years ago? I personally think it would be absolutely hilarious to see what someone who comes from Earth and accomplished what Emily has would make of the sheer rediculousness of High Society in Cat’s world. Beyond that I’d like to see more Cast Adrift.
I want more Zero Enigma, more Schooled in Magic (or at least in that world) or a NEW fantasy series.

I prefer the fantasy series. I’ve read the beginnings of all the military-sf series but did not stay with them.
IMO, it is difficult for what I will term Weber-style military sf to strike a balance. It usually requires the protagonists to face terrible odds – and win anyhow. Which usually requires the opponents to behave stupidly or to have an improbable vulnerability. (I enjoyed Cast Adrift but yeah, “our nature encourages us to ignore logistics” qualifies on both counts, and I am unlikely to read a sequel.)
How about turning Stuck In Magic into a book, and starting a new series?

More Cast Adrift, the progression in storytelling from the Learning Experience series is recognisable, but with a nice unique twist making the series stand out on it’s own. It actually reminds me more of the Troy Rising trilogy in how the galactic political structure seems set up in the world building (which is good, I loved the Troy Rising trilogy).
Really looking forward to more in this series, I’ll definitely be buying them if (‘when’ hopefully) they are written / published.
Zero or SIM
I’d really like to find out what happened to Prince Roland. He seemed to me to be turning his life around and demonstrating potential, plus I think that there could be some great stories found in the confusion and destruction at the centre of the empire.
By the way, my wrist is sore (mouse repetitve injury) from scanning all the posts for some mention of “The Princes’ Story”, which I vaguely remembered. You and others have generated an enormous amount of content in a short period of time. It’d be good to have someway to search/sort the different threads.

Definitely more Empires Corps. Also you might want to create a series, similar to AR, out of First Strike (loved it), although it might clash with Cast Adrift.
Keep up the good work and for God’s sake man, publish Drakes Drum already!

Cast Adrift. Ark Royal was my first taste of Chris magic and SIM definitely grew on me. For some reason I never got into Empire Corps though nor Falcone,
Chris- how about the Ark Royal crew, tied up in a near hopeless battle with a virus?
I would always like more SIM. I guess it’s more how Destiny’s Child turns as the climax of the series, if more stories in the Nameless World would actually work. There’s a lot to be tied up in the final series finale story. The Demons have their agenda but since Past Tense, not much has been said about the Demons and their prophecies in Past Tense hasn’t come up much but an occasional retrospective mention by Emily. So sure more SIM, but what the stories would be about without Emily as the MC, not sure….
I’m thinking that Chris can’t “clean up all of the mess in the Nameless World” by the end of Child Of Destiny so there will be room for later stories/books about the Clean-up (by Emily & Others). 😉
I’d like to put in a plug for another Royal Sorceress book!
More SIM with Emily is always a great choice. I will read Zero universe as well, especially if Cat is the main character

I’m 25% in Cast Adrift, and this must be the first time I have difficulty to get “into” the book. There’s a lot of politics, not much military action, except in the Prologue, and I seem to have missed the description of what the “peacocks” look like…
