Updates

29 Nov

Hi everyone

If everything goes well – touch wood – I hope to finish Fighting for the Crown’s first draft tomorrow.  There will be a lot of editing, as usual, but hopefully it will be ready for release in a couple of weeks or so.  I’m also hoping to get through the second batch of editing for Little Witches, but – realistically – it will probably be released sometime closer to Christmas than I would prefer.  We shall see.

The current title for the next Ark Royal book is Drake’s Drum, which is both a reference to the legend (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drake%27s_Drum) and a nod to the poem.

My planned schedule is:

Dec – The Right Side of History (SIM21)

Jan – The Family Name (Zero)

Feb – The Face of the Enemy (SIM22).

I’m still thinking up new ideas for Fantastic Schools IV (stories suitable for younger readers) and V.  Any thoughts or concepts would be welcome.

Chris

I guess any thoughts of a return to A.L.E. are just those in my head?? And nothing further on exploits of Kat Falcone??
You asked for our two cents worth. And you got a nickel out of me !!🤠

A short mystery novelette in a SIM setting, maybe? I know that some SIM novels already dabble in this, but a story with a dedicated detective-mage would probably read significantly different.

    Ideas:

The Gorgons first year at Whitehall after leaving her tribe for the first time.

I’d bet we are all interested how past Whitehall fared after Emily left.

I’m a big fan of seeing the main character through the eyes of someone else, so a story that revolves around Emily, but told from someone different would be interesting. Probably not a main arc but a side story. Frieda is a bit too obvious though i’d still think it’d be fun. Maybe Jasmine would be interesting since we were shown her again in the stuck in magic story. Seeing stuck in magic dude (blanking on his name) and Emily meet for the first time through his eyes would be fun.

A story about the battle between Emily and Nanette told through Nanette’s eyes would be really interesting. Again, probably a side story not part of the main arc. Maybe sets up one of the main books?

To flesh out the world a bit (Emily is an outsider), you could write about someone from a main magical family who attends Whitehall. Emily could even be going there at the time or recently left. I’m picturing someone definitely younger; not a parallel story. Could even keep it lighter, major things don’t have to happen. focus more on just being a kid entering Whitehall for the first time, where maybe sneaking out to the kitchens for a feast is a major thing. With plenty of humor and drama of course.

Anyway, that’s all I have for now. Thanks for the stories Chris.

Hi, Chris. It’s wonderful that you’re able to keep up with writing all these series. I’m enjoying your work on several of them.

How are you doing nowadays? You haven’t said anything about your health lately (that I’ve seen) so I’ve just assumed that you were doing well to be able to keep up such a productive writing schedule. Are you feeling better and getting to enjoy time with your family beyond all the books? Please take care of yourself.

My heath has been relatively stable for the last few months, lockdown notwithstanding. Hopefully, things will stay that way.

So if you are stating to write sim 21 in December when would you think it will be out. Also for short stories I would like is the Cat chase of Jaqualynn. Also Calebs first years of magical schooling before he and Emily met. Also maybe short story on the Loan powers in the sim world we had a brief look at a second in the 6th book Loves Labor WON. Hope those might help you

      I agree 👍

Although I believe the Cat story is already done or in the works. I know I know shame on me, but I haven’t purchased schooled in magic short stories yet. I will soon.

Hi everyone. I have a question. Is Little Witches the next SIM or is it The Right of History ? Which one is after Oathkeeper ? I am a little confused.
Thank you Chris for your great books.

Little Witches follows Oathkeeper and The Right Side of History follows Little Witches.

Yes, I know that I’m not Chris. 😉
