Updates …

2 Aug

Hi, everyone

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks, to say the least.  Shielding restrictions in Edinburgh have been steadily lifting, allowing me to get out of the house a couple of times.  The streets are a little eerie, although most people don’t seem to be wearing masks unless they’re going into a shop.  The shops themselves are divided.  Many are restricting the number of people who enter, many don’t seem to care one way or the other.  Personally, I miss the libraries too.

On the plus side, I’ve completed the first draft of The Lion and the Unicorn and I’m currently waiting on the edits.  I’ve also completed the edits for The Lady Heiress and I’m currently waiting on the cover.  (I messed up the timing a little).  I’m also hoping to get the audio version of Mirror Image out next month, although – as you know – there have been delays.  Watch this space.

On slightly different news, we’ve got the pre-order pages for Debt of Loyalty and Debt of War up on Amazon now.

I’m still thinking about the next Fantastic Schools novella.  I’ve got a rough set of ideas, for SIM, Royal Sorceress or Zero, but I haven’t decided.  Part of the problem is that I don’t want to write a story that ties into the mainstream books, because the last set of delays meant that Oathkeeper came out before Nanette’s Tale.  If you have any thoughts about school stories, feel free to send them to me.  I offer cameos <grin>.

My rough plan for the next few months is:

Aug – The Truthful Lie (The Unwritten Words III)

Sept – The Halls of Montezuma (The Empire’s Corps 18)

Oct – The Right Side of History (Schooled in Magic 21)

Nov – Fighting for the Crown (Ark Royal)

Beyond that, I don’t know yet.  I have plans and concepts, but … we will see.

Do you plan to do any follow up books to guardian glass

Was it you or another author that said that pre-orders on Amazon Kindle don’t count as a book sold? is this correct or am I missing something?

Look forward to your Empire Corps and Ark Royal books.

I don’t think it was me.

It’s not clear if they do or they don’t. Someone can easily cancel the purchase before it goes ahead.

Would love to see a Zero. But that would be tragic, because I’d have to re-read the entire series. 🙂

Next SIM in October? too much to wait, can’t be sooner?
Few weeks ago the schedule looked better.
“My current plan is to write The Lion and the Unicorn (Ark 15) next, followed by The Right Side of History (SIM21). “

Is the Lion and the Unicorn the first of another trilogy in the series or stand alone please? Note there is a further book in the series planned for Nov and previous posts suggesting there might be a book to move the story then a trilogy to take the virus storyline well alone if not finish it… just curious, won’t stop me reading Unicorn soon as it lands 😂

Although I’d be delighted to see another Royal Sorceress book, you should write whatever you feel like. Just happy that you’re well and inclined to keep writing…

Hi Chris. Its a great change that you are able to be so productive. I loved Oathkeeper but SIM is my favorite series of yours. Its nice to see it in the current future plan and the various threads do seem to be converging. I am eagerly awaiting the next Kat book that series has become very interesting. Keep well and keep writing.

Chris, you asked elsewhere whether readers would like a recap or a breather in the next SIM novel–I think a recap of 20 novels would be hard, but a breather showing the social aspect to the life as a apprentice in the allied lands–similar to Love’s Labors Won–would be enjoyable and extend the series…
