More Updates <sorry>

8 Apr

Hi, everyone

I was feeling slightly better today, which put me in a good mood for doing the edits for Cursed. The book is now just waiting (I hope) on a cover and then we can go live. If there are more edits … well, I’ll just have to do them. <grin>

I can also inform you that the audio version of The Broken Throne is going to go live on the 16th. I’ll put the link on my Facebook page when I can.

I’ve been stalled on The Right of the Line, thanks to radiotherapy. When we get back from holiday, I hope to get cracking and complete it by the end of the month.

I’ve also sketched out the plot for The Family Pride, which will be Akin’s story – set roughly five years after The Zero Blessing and The Family Shame. So far, the list of planned Zero books are: Kingdom of Ghosts (voyage to Hangchow), The King’s Man (story about a Kingsman <grin>), Revenge (perhaps – this might be better kept separate) and The Family Pride.

Thanks for your patience. It’s been a hard month.

Chris

Enjoy your vacation!!! You asked in an earlier posting about ideas for future series–you might want to consider that as you’ve created several outstanding universes, with devoted readers, you might be better off writing future novels in those universes rather take chances on new ones…For example, what happened with Lord Whitehall and Bernard and the first Fairie War? You could write a new series starting 10 years after SIM with the return and continuation of the Fairie wars (you see, they never really ended–the Fairie just withdrew to the third continent to wait things out until the Necromancers obliterated mankind, but now that Emily is defeating them, they return…)

OOOH…I really like that idea! I have been wondering too on the promise that Emily had to make to the Fairies in one of the earlier books…they said they would call on her at the right time…this just hasn’t happened yet though. So your idea would really be awesome and enlightening! GREAT IDEA!

I was wondering about the cover for Cursed (as well as the book itself). Sometimes you get a new book’s cover published sooner than this (It is probably not your fault, maybe the artist was busy).

It’s important to get your rest. Don’t push yourself to hard. As for ideas. I love SIM I think if you want ideas you might try writing from the POV of other characters as well. I enjoyed Allasa’s novella. There are several characters then you can do. One character I wonder about is the girl that Emily sponsored into Whitehall. It might be interesting to see how Whitehall is without Emiky. Plus this girl has a connection to Emily and owes her. She could.be a spin-off.character. Or Melissa. She could give us a wider picture off magic society. I want to see more world building.

Could you add a short appendix on the hidden politics of the nameless world? For instance, the white council’s giving scholarships to “new bloods” powerful enough to attend Whitehall–then forcing them to swear allegience for 5th and 6th year studies–usually required for apprenticeships–effectively brings future powerful magicians out of the control of mundane kings to the White council…which the kings might agree to as powerful mages tend to disrupt the established social order…but also leads to magical society growing more powerful and having leverage over the kings and aristocrats. These people now should be angry about Emily circumventing their system and by the end of Cursed, once again being a functioning Baroness–not even counting possessing Heartseye…

Very glad you are feeling better. You are my favorite author! Live long and prosper.

A bit off topic, but I love J K Rowling’s world, arm all 11 year old’s with military weapons and train them to use them. And don’t forget the poison lessons!

An armed society is a polite society.
Can you imagine a world where dueling and twitter existed?
