Colds and Being Cold

18 Oct

Well, that bloody cold has not gone away. In fact, it’s got worse – my chest is hurting and I’ve been unable to concentrate long enough on my work to produce more chapters. The doctors can’t do much because it is a cold, rather than something they can treat with medicine – I don’t know what this means for the next chemo.

I’ve been doing my best to keep occupied with other things. I’ve completed my set of Harry Potter reviews and I’m currently writing a series overview that explores what I like and dislike about the books. I’ve also been scribbling notes for future books – I’ve plotted SIM17 and started to outline the Godpower world – and a few other projects I’ll talk about in due time. And I’ve written a couple of political posts, which will hopefully produce debate and new insights (and hopefully no flame wars). But, ATM, I’m just frustrated with writing progress. I know I’m not well, but it gnaws at me.

Anyway, that’s enough whining. Hopefully, the next update will be more upbeat.

Chris

Hot showers (All the steam) helps break the stuff loose.

I have found if you tip your head forward as much as you can, it may (Snot) pour out better.
(People don’t know that there is kind of a lake spot up in there, so when you blow your nose
it does not all come out unless you tip your head forward)

Take vitamin C , If you get those chew able ones and when you chew one up
it tastes good, then you know you have not been taking enough of that.
If it tastes kind of neutral then you have been taking enough.

    Rest helps.

If you are sick and you work hard all your energy goes to work and not getting well.

Of course when you feel better do stuff.

Hey man, love your grit! ! ! Can’t quote your book exactly, but didn’t one of your characters say that you’re not defeated until you give up? Figure out the spell and pull it apart, thats not a joke, hang in there

I am so sorry for your frustration and I sympathize. I have two ruptured disks in my lower back and two herniated disks in my neck. The one at C5/6 has an egress of 5mm and I am partially paralyzed on my left side. Water therapy helps, a lot, with the traction effect only lasts for a few hours. So, my writing is pretty much limited to laying on back and pecking one handed on an iPad. I will have surgery, soon, and that might fix it, but it will be a lengthy recovery.
Christopher, what has saved me is Audible, especially the Great Courses. Forget writing for a while and immerse yourself in some of the better Great Courses on Quantum physics and history. Your books are phenomenal. You are one of the most talent led writers I know. Relax, tell yourself you’re learning “stuff” for even better story ideas. Your fans, and I am one of your bigger fans, will understand and support you. God Bless you.
