Hi, everyone
The good news is that The Family Shame is now out in paperback <grin>.
The bad news is that my health has been going up and down like a yo-yo. I started The Long-Range War two weeks ago, with the intention of getting as much done as possible before my wife and family took me to Amsterdam for a week. As it happened, I got four chapters into the story before my health collapsed, making it impossible to write for a few days and then limited what I could do for the remainder of the time before my holiday. I’ve only just resumed the story, which stands (as of today) at twenty chapters. My best guess, barring another health collapse, is that it will be released midway through July.
So far, the doctors haven’t been able to establish what is actually wrong with me. There is a whole list of things it isn’t (most of the things on the list are very bad, so I’m quite relieved) but they don’t know what it is. It’s quite frustrating. <sigh>
That said, I’m hoping to press on. The Broken Throne will be coming after The Long-Range War, which will – hopefully – conclude events started in The Princess in the Tower. I’ve also started plotting out the next arc of The Empire’s Corps, starting with a stand-alone and then following with the adventures of (former) Prince Roland as he joins the Marines, although I’m not quite sure when they will be coming. I also need to write the sequel to Invincible at some point too <grin>.
Wish me luck.
Chris
Chris – good luck with your health (it is never as cut and dried as some people make it out to be). And I’m looking forward to the upcoming books, especially the continuation of the Empire Corps – my favorite of your series (like them all…).

Good Luck and Take Care Of Yourself! 😀
As requested…Good Luck ! !
One of my sisters was sick for a long time and they could not figure out what was wrong.
They finally figured out she was allergic to wheat (Glutton)
She had lost weight and it was getting worse until they figured it out.
Celiac disease.
Many times when the doctors can’t figure out what the issue actually is, it is eventually determined to be some kind of food allergy. Let that be a possible avenue of investigation.
Good Luck!
Please take care of your health first. I would rather you live a long time and produce only 8 or 10 books a year than have failing health.
I’m so sorry to hear that your health is continuing to be poor. I agree with Wayne Dismukes, much as I eagerly await your Schooled in Magic, Zero series, and the next Royal Sorceress book, it would be better to have you well enough to keep writing for a very long time. Plus, I’m sure your wife and kids need you to recover. Take care and best of luck.
take care of yourself!
Hope you feel better soon
Chris. Good luck and feel better. As long as finances are stable don’t push yourself focus on your health. The books will get written when they get written. Get healthy first
What he said!
Me too!
Get some rest and heal up. Most authors put out one or two books a year if lucky. You are putting out much more than that. Get some good food, sleep and rest, spend time with the family with no stress. When you recover then go back to writing. If you want to post your symptoms perhaps some of your fans might have clue what is wrong with your health. I’ve had doctors misdiagnose me and others get it right. Hope you feel better.
Well make sure you take care of your self first, The books can wait if they have to. I know what it is like to have a long term illness and it is not fun, So make sure you are all healthy and rested. Then the books can start again. In my Opinion.
My mother has been years without a valid diagnosis for what’s wrong with her. Most of the doctors she’s seen make wild guesses, then the treatment doesn’t work. We’ve taken to just using whatever we find that works. She does well enough. Hope you find an answer to your physical troubles.
As far as books go: Yes yes and YES!!! I want to read them ALL!!! 🙂
Take care of yourself first Chris, the books will come when they come.
I hope you are better soon, I cannot have my favorite writer sick for long.
A suggestion: In the Arc Royal series maybe you should have a prelude about the “troubles”. Given the state of Europe at the moment it should be a good book.
I’ve thought about that, but it would be too political.
