OUT NOW–The Promised Lie (The Unwritten Words I)

promised lie

The Bookworm successor series begins here …

The Golden City has fallen. The Grand Sorcerer and Court Wizards are dead. The Empire they ruled is nothing more than a memory, a golden age lost in the civil wars as kings and princes battle for supremacy. And only a handful of trained magicians remain alive.

Isabella Majuro, Lady Sorceress, is little more than a mercenary, fighting for money in a desperate bid to escape her past. But when Prince Reginald of Andalusia plots the invasion of the Summer Isle, Isabella finds herself dragged into a war against strange magics from before recorded history …

… And an ancient mystery that may spell the end of the human race.

    A golden city that is no longer golden, the top wizards of the empire gone, a vestigial empire… Was the name of the empire Tevinter?

      IIRC The Empire is never given a Name in the Bookworm series.

      If it had once had a Name, it had existed so long that nobody knew (or used) it.

        You misunderstand, i was making a comparison between the plot points presented in this article, and the Tevinter Imperium, from the Dragon Age series.

        Sorry, I should have acknowledged the existence of the Tevinter Imperium, from the Dragon Age series.

        Still, your comment led me to check if Chris had named the Empire in the earlier books. 😉

        I never gave it a name. The locals thought it would last forever

    Thought about reading it, but already in the preview part it’s again so full of ellipses, parenthesis and italics I’m having a tough time getting into it ^^;

    I accidentally bought this book when I was trying to buy the Zero Equation (which I just finished). I’m wondering if I should read the Bookworm series first. Are there any spoilers in this book that might impact my enjoyment of the Bookworm series?

    • Paul (Drak Bibliophile) Howard February 27, 2018 at 8:48 pm #

      IMO Only the fact that the Empire fell at the end of the Bookworm series.

        Well, if they didn’t want to be spoiled, they certainly are now :p

      Very few, save for the end of the empire
