Minor Updates–And Samples

25 Sep

Hi, everyone

If everything goes according to plan – which it hopefully will – The Gordian Knot should be released in the next few days. We have the cover – see below – and the edits. I think I can safely say it’s the best cover in the series, which puts it up against some pretty stiff competition. There’s a small sample here.

Gordian Knot Final FOR WEB

I’m also 28 chapters into Graduation Day and enjoying the sensation of a clear run at the ending when I know what’s going to happen, more or less, in the remaining 12 (or so) chapters. Hopefully, as Graduation Day is the last of the second arc, it will end with a suitable bang that closes off some plotlines and opens the path to the third arc. We shall see.

Obviously, there’s no way I can offer a publication date yet, but I’m hopeful that it will come out before the end of the year.

The Zero Curse is coming out in paperback today, complimenting the eBook. The eBook is doing reasonably well, prompting questions about a second trilogy set after The Zero Equation. I do have a plotline for at least one book, a spin-off of sorts, but I don’t intend to write it just yet. First, I have to finish the first trilogy, then take stock.

After Graduation Day, I’ll move straight into The Cruel Stars, which will be a second stand-alone Ark Royal book.

Let me know what else you’d like to see!

Chris

I will be checking several times a day for actual release!!

Will you ever write any SIM books from more than one viewpoint, i.e. Emily (except for prefixes and appendixes)?

Looking at the cover, it looks like an office, and someone is attacking her. Anyone who attacks Emily in Whitehall, has a BIG surprise coming, since she controls the Wards AND the Nexus Point

LOL about the surprise, I was thinking the same thing

I’m not sure. I keep thinking about it, but it would be a major break

I like the new LitRPG books.

Can you do one in that format ?

A couple that I like (Examples)

Life in the North by Tao Wong
    and
    Dungeon Masters by Mike Wild

    • chrishanger September 26, 2017 at 9:36 pm #

I’m not quite sure what LITRPG is – like the old Lone Wolf books?

      Chris

I think “LitRPG” are stories where the characters find themselves as characters in a “Real” Role-Playing Game or the author creates a story world based on his favorite Role-Playing Game (with the appropriate serial numbers removed).

      • chrishanger September 29, 2017 at 4:21 pm #

I don’t play RPGs, so probably not

I used to like the old Lone Wolf books – pity they’re out of print these days.

Guardians of the Flame series by Joel Rosenberg where the main characters are sucked into a fantasy world by their gamemaster

It is where the regular person is suddenly in a video game world , usually like Dungeons and Dragons.

They level up as they progress.
        They have a screen
        (That only they can see)

Showing inventory, magic, life , level etc.
Instead of playing the Video Game with controllers, their mind is there.

In some books like * Life in the North by Tao Wong – the entire world turns into a kind of Video game – so that not only is their mind in the game , they are completely in the game (Body and mind)

In Dungeon Masters by Mike Wild – A portal is discovered that opens into a Dungeon and Dragons world. (Where you are in that Dungeon world if you go through the portal.
(Then its like you are in a Video game and start gaining points/ experience etc)

What I like about them, when you do something – you gain experience * Get smarter or harder to be hurt or more magic.

Like in a Video game , you start as a Noob (Someone inexperienced) and over time you gain experience.

Most of those books you start at the bottom and work your way up.

There are a few where the person starts at the top and I like those as well.

I don’t think I’ve ever read any of those .

I’m not sure how well it would work.

enjoying your writing. Easy yo relax and enjoy. Speaking of which (!), any thoughts on a follow up to “On The Imperium’s Secret Service” ?

  15. Puffin Muffin September 25, 2017 at 8:16 pm #

Just bought a copy – but I note the comment above about stories from other viewpoints. Perhaps something like the star trek TNG “lower decks” episode could be done? The Whitehall servants must witness some amazing things.

    • chrishanger September 26, 2017 at 9:37 pm #

      It might be fun

On the other hand, I probably don’t have time ATM.

      Chris

I have read many books that present the story several viewpoints, even with Chris in other series.
