Quick Update …

27 Jul

Hi, everyone

This is, as you may have guessed, another short update.

First, I will be attending the Nine Worlds Convention in London next week – 4-6th August – and will be spending much of that time hanging around the Elsewhen Press table. If you want a garmented copy of one of my books, please let me know by Monday at the very latest.

Second, I’m nearing the end of the first draft of The Gordian Knot (Schooled in Magic 13) – I hope to have the draft finished on the 29th. Obviously, we don’t have a due date yet – let alone a cover – but hopefully it will be out by early September.

Third, we do have a due date for the audio version of Wedding Hells – 28/9.

For various reasons, I’ve had to reassess my schedule. It currently looks like:

Aug – The Zero Curse

Sept – Graduation Day (SIM 14, direct sequel to The Gordian Knot)

Oct – The Cruel Stars (Ark XI, stand-alone)

Nov – Bookworm Series II, Title unsure.

The last one probably requires some explanation. The original plan was to call the overall series The Unwritten Words and Book I Cat’s Paw. That said, I do have an idea for a book set between Bookworm and The Unwritten Words that may have to be written first. I do intend to discuss the matter with the publishers at Nine Worlds.

Of course, something else might come along. <grin>

Looking good with the schedule as always Chris. I’m thoroughly impressed by your output. Some authors take the better part of a decade to write a single book, and they are only writing a single series! Looking forward to The Zero Curse and The Gordian Knot. : )

Super excited about your next book worm novel in the series! So enjoyed it!

Ok, you got me. I don’t understand your use of garmented copy in reference to one of your books. I checked on line but dictionaries just refered to clothing. Is this a Britishism ?
I’m normally the one who liked sending people to the dictionary when I used to have to reply to department emails.

You’d have to give me context

In your post “If you want a garmented copy of one of my books, please let me know by Monday at the very latest.”

Ah. I meant guaranteed copy – I’d put one aside for anyone who reserved one, but anyone who came without prior reservation would have to take pot luck.

Looking forward to the new books, but don’t forget to smell the roses too! Your little boy will only be a baby once.

Could I put in a small plug for The Royal Sorceress series? Perhaps a 5th book in the next year or so? Please.

    Happy writing!

So, SIM 13 and 14 both in September? Awesome!

    • FarWalker July 28, 2017 at 11:26 pm #

It’s my understanding that Chris will begin writing SIM 14 in September. It will probably be January or February at the earliest before SIM 14 is available for purchase based on past history.

      • Jensebaum July 29, 2017 at 1:34 pm #

No, it’s a “planned release dates” – schedule, from how I see it. In the text he says, he hopes for SIM 13 to be out early september, and then in the list below SIM 14 is also planned for the same month. So, two novels in one month, if I read it correctly.
Possible explanation: The two books are linked, like “Infinite Regress” and “Past Tense”, essentially one book that was too large and had to be split in two. PT came much faster after IR than normal.
        Chris, enlighten us, please? 🙂

      • chrishanger July 30, 2017 at 9:15 pm #

Yes, they’re linked – 13 resolves one problem, but leads right to the next.

      • chrishanger July 30, 2017 at 9:14 pm #

        That’s the plan

My money is on November if he starts in September

      • Ihas July 29, 2017 at 5:17 am #

In the past it has taken 6 weeks from a completed draft to a publication in the SIM series.
