Up for Pre-Order Now!

Now a celebrated war hero, Captain Kat Falcone is back at the helm of HMS Lightning…and up against near-impossible odds. After an ill-timed outburst almost ends her career, Kat is handed command of a deep-strike mission into enemy space. The objective is to gather intelligence and distract the hostile Theocracy while the Commonwealth prepares its counteroffensive.

The chances for success are slim—and for survival even slimmer.

Armed with a ragtag fleet of outdated starships, a few loyal officers, and a skeleton crew of refugees, Kat knows the Royal Navy expects her to fail. But failure almost certainly means death—or worse, as the Theocracy does not treat prisoners kindly. Pitted against the enemy defenses of her old nemesis Admiral Junayd, there is no room for error. And with a spy hidden aboard her ship, Kat will need more than her wits to survive. Can Kat enter the lion’s den, strike a blow for the Commonwealth, and escape with her life?

Pre-ordered it long time ago (from Amazon, not from any Pirate Bay – not to worry). 🙂 The first installment beats Ark Royal hands-down, as far as I’m concerned. Wonder whether it’s because, being published professionally, it had taken its sweet time forming, developing, and refining itself. Yes, Chris, sorry but it is a small barb at your relentless ‘fiction factory’ approach to writing and a focus on being prolific. Personally, I’ll take quality over quantity any day – and in almost any area – but most of your fans (and Alexander Dumas himself) apparently disagree. Speaking of Alexander Dumas and his Fiction Factory: what do you think of an idea to hire apprentice writers to expand, refine, and finalise the plots you come up with and then hand down to them? Is it even possible under modern copyrights and copy-wrongs? 🙂

      That’s an interesting question.

There have been quite a few writing syndicates – the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books, I think, were written by a number of different authors. I’m not sure who wrote the outlines. However, I don’t think it would really fit for my work – I’d have to spend too long debugging each book as it was submitted. (If you look at the stories and novels set in David Weber’s honorverse, you’ll see a marked set of different-quality books.)

A shared universe, like the Imperium universe, would probably work better.

Turned on the tablet this morning, and woo-hoo Falcone Strike was in it. Off to the muffler repair shop, perfect opportunity to start the novel, and sometimes with car repairs, finish the novel.
