Updates and Suchlike …

16 Dec

Hi, everyone.

First of all, I’ve finished the first draft of Love’s Labour’s Won, Schooled in Magic 6. It’s a little more low-key that previous books, but that will be blown away by book 7. This was a race against the baby, due in a week, but I’m glad to have it done before the baby arrives.

However, it will probably be a month before I put hand to keyboard again to write the next book. This gives you some time to decide what you want.

The two principle possibilities are Democracy’s Price, which will be the third and final Democracy book, and Never Surrender, which will be Book 10 of The Empire’s Corps.

But there is another. I’ve been mulling over a near-future story, partly inspired by The Dogs of War, where a bunch of mercenaries are hired by a princess from a middle east state (think a cross between Qatar and Dubai) to overthrow her brother, who’s not only a royal brat, but climbing into bed with Islamists who will rapidly turn the state into a disaster area for everyone. This would be a stand-alone, perhaps a joint project, but we will see.

Which one would you like?

In other news, Warspite is coming out on Create Space in a day or two, once all the links are in place. Feel free to purchase a copy from the links on the Amazon page.

Warspite will also be available as an audio book soon, hopefully by February.

The Best Laid Plans has been edited; hopefully, it should be out in ebook in February.

The School of Hard Knocks (Schooled in Magic 5) should be available in January or February.

As always, comments are welcome.

Chris

    Hello Chris,

I have really enjoyed reading your novels. Best of luck with fatherhood. It is best adventure of all. I am sure you will be a great Dad. Regarding your above post and what you should do next; it would be great to read “Never Surrender”. I am partial to the Empire Corps novels and really want to continue to read about this universe.

    Happy Holidays from Los Angeles!

Your DOGS OF WAR idea would be kind of cool, plus it’d be a big departure from your usual space opera.

    Go for it!

What Matt said, only from Detroit! 😉

    Hi Chris
You got to do “Never Surrender”. What is happening to Jasmine and the rest of her command???
Good luck when the baby arrives. One month before you start writing again – you wish.

    G’day Chris.
Congratulations to you and your lady on the pending new addition. All your suggestions sound good, but I would really like to read the next ‘Empires Corps’ story.

Here’s my ‘two cents’; you’ve two books to put to bed forever Democracy’s Price and Never Surrender. Your life is about to change in ways that you, even with your imagination, can’t. It’s going to affect your whole world view.

So my advice, one dad to a future one; put those books to bed because you may find that what looks good now, will be different once that dad gene kicks in and it will kick in.

Your life is about to change and from personal experience, I know you’re going LOVE every minute of it. Yep that includes lack of sleep, changing diapers, getting pee’d, pooped, spit up on, and crying in sound pressure levels that competes with a Saturn V launch. 🙂

As for which of the two? It’s truly difficult; Never Surrender perhaps?

Cheers and welcome to the club.
    -Jack

Ok I decided; Never Surrender, only because I want to see how you do closure on a series that spans 10 very diverse volumes.
I’d love to see the Commandant of the Marine Corps show up on Avalon, that for me would be a very large and long awaited bit of closure.

Book 10. Why are people talking as if it’s the end? There are more books.

my bad! I thought I read ‘final’ meaning for Democracy’s Price and Never Surrender. It’s just Democracy’s Price that’s the final. OOPS! 🙂

Never Surrender, I always like more Empires Corp

Do know the true release date of “The School of Hard knocks” yet and will it be an S.O.S release?

I vote for Dogs of War. I would like to see something about a different milieu than your three or four favorites, especially a near future one I can imagine myself living in.

Empire Corp please,by far my favourite subject matter.

Empire’s Corps, please, assuming this one is Avalon-based, (or trade-oriented like The Outcast). Otherwise Democracy’s Price.
