New Kindle Book–Ark Royal

16 Jan

If you wish for peace, prepare for war.

-Royal Navy Motto

Seventy years ago, the interstellar supercarrier Ark Royal was the pride of the Royal Navy. But now, her weapons are outdated and her solid-state armour nothing more than a burden on her colossal hull. She floats in permanent orbit near Earth, a dumping ground for the officers and crew the Royal Navy wishes to keep out of the public eye.

But when a deadly alien threat appears, the modern starships built by humanity are no match for the powerful alien weapons. Ark Royal and her mismatched crew must go on the offensive, buying time with their lives And yet, with a drunkard for a Captain, an over-ambitious first officer and a crew composed of reservists and the dregs of the service, do they have even the faintest hope of surviving …

… And returning to an Earth which may no longer be there?

[Like my other self-published Kindle books, Ark Royal is DRM-free. You may reformat it as you choose. There is a large sample of the text right here, then you can buy it from Amazon here.]

Just finished it and reviewed it on Amazon. I think one of your best so far, I really liked how the characters were able to overcome shortcomings. I love the Empire’s Corp but sometimes it feels like the characters don’t have as much room to grow, which fits their characters, and they do have to grow in areas not related to their expertise like the Colonel with diplomacy and Jasmine with command. But this one it felt like there was a lot of character growth.

Hi – like all your books I enjoy them – shame you have to sleep and have some downtime – maybe you could get an infinite number of monkeys typing for you and just edit the ones you like to save time. Looking for ward to a sequel to Ark Royal. PS Also enjoyed Bookworm 2

At the end of this book you ask if the reader wants a sequel.

The answer, as far as I am concerned at least, is YES, YES pleaseeee give us a sequel!

Hi. Just read Ark Royal and left a review on Amazon. Great page-turner witrh just a few niggles in the editing. You could argue that the characters could be expanded more but I think you got the balance about right between character development and moving the plot along.

There is always a need to keep developing the characters in the sequel. I look forward to the next instalment!

As an author who gets pestered by fans for the next sequel myself, I am loathe to join their intolerant ranks…but – Ark must go forward. (and just for the fun of it? Why not a space opera where Earth loses the war…heck…at least some of the nasty bits deserve a good scrubbing) Cheers!

And how the Hell do you write so fast? Good for you lad.
